7 March  Top up on parenting skills and positive energy at the Augmentative and Alternative Communication workshop featuring Desirae Pillay – author of A Million Beautiful Pieces and winner of the Most Inspiring Blogger Award – will be talking about living your best life, marriage and parenting. The evening starts at 6.30pm at the Pavilion Room, Simbithi Country Club. All proceeds go to Bloom. 8 – 9 March – Explore current communication strategies and solutions for children who cannot rely on natural speech alone at the Augmentative and Alternative Communication workshop – “Let our voices be heard”. The two-day event will start from 9am till 4pm at the Dragonfly Conference Centre at Simbithi Country Club. Pay either R950 per day or R1800 for two days including meals. 9 March

  • North Coast Artists invite you to a demonstration on how to paint roses by local artist, Nicky Botha from 9am to 12.30pm at St Luke’s Church hall, 2 Roger Place, Glenashley. Entrance is R40 and includes refreshments.

  • For one day only, the Royal Moscow Ballet will be performing at The Playhouse Theatre at 2pm and 6pm. The performance will include: Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture: Fantasy; the third movement of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.6 (Pathétique); and excerpts from Carl Orff’s scenic cantanta, Carmina Burana. Tickets are available from Computicket from R250.
  • The Haven of Rest presents the family fun market day from 9am to 5pm. Entry is R50 and kids under five enter for free. For more information, contact the event organiser Samuel Paul at 064 626 7468

10 March

  • Join the Dolphin Gliders Mile 2019 1,6km dam swim at the Ballito Cable Ski Park, D176 Esenembi Road. Entry fee is R200 and includes breakfast and coffee. Entries close on March 7. SMS or Whatsapp your name, surname, email address and age to 082 221 7069 to enter.
  • Enjoy an evening of campfire tales at Katmandu restaurant from 4pm – 7pm, to welcome home the Dolphin Coast’s own Cape Town to Kathmandu Land Rover expedition team after their world-first transcontinental journey from South Africa to Nepal. Music by Qadasi & Maqhinga. Entrance fee: R100 donation to the Rhino Art Youth Conservation Education Programme. Limited edition, autographed copies of Kingsley’s latest book ‘Africa – a Love Affair with A Continent’ on sale. 13-16 March – The opening night of the 22nd Time of the Writer will happen at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre at 7pm. Other events will happen at KZNSA Gallery, Auditorium Hall (Sizakala Centre, Zazi Road, Clermont) and Grosvenor Library (3 Wesley Rd, Grosvenor). All events are free and all are welcome.

18 March – All are welcome to attend the Dolphin Coast Conservancy at 5.30pm at the Dolphin Coast Striders Club House. The hour-long meeting will be followed by snacks and a social get-together. A cash bar will be available. For more info, contact Di Jones at 032 525-8160.

21 – 24 March – Soak up inspiration and get tips on how to bring the latest trends into your home at Africa’s largest décor, design and lifestyle exhibition – Decorex SA. The exciting show will be held at the Durban Exhibition Centre on Thursday 10am-6pm, Friday 10am – 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am – 6pm. Tickets cost R95 for adults, R85 for students/pensioners and R20 for children U12.
