Write yourself right with special writing course in Westbrook
By the completion of the course, participants will have created a meaningful piece of writing and will have gained understanding into the neurosciences involved in writing and in health.
Find healing through the art of writing with a specialised, short interactive writing course offered by two creative thinkers at Westbrook from May to June.
Write to Right is run by Durban-based physician Laura Campbell and artist/theologian Bernice Stot who use these small-group courses as a vehicle to encourage healing and well-being.
By the completion of the course, participants will have created a meaningful piece of writing and will have gained understanding into the neurosciences involved in writing and in health.
Campbell, who has worked and studied extensively abroad said they have tweaked this course based on the positive feedback they received on their first round last year.
“We are offering this course for anyone who would like to find healing or those who want to write about loss, love and life’s challenges.
“Now more than ever, we want to help people transform their narrative of mismatched, confused, angry, despairing, sad words and mold them to beauty and magic,” said Campbell, who won the Eileen Molver Trophy for Children`s Story (2017).
She is also a highly-qualified specialist family physician with a particular interest in palliative care and mental health.
Stott is a widely respected practicing visual artist with academic qualifications in drama, visual art and theology.
She has participated in a myriad of solo and group exhibitions throughout South Africa and abroad. She has been a minister, a teacher, a facilitator and an artist. She has an active interest in the work of Jung and archetypes; and explores the intersection between social justice, arts, feminism, philosophy and theology.
Join the ladies on this writing journey in Westbrook on May 7, 14, 21, 28 and June 4, 11, 18 and 24 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The course costs R 3800. For more information, contact info@writetoright.co.za
