KZN’s North Coast proves popular with property buyers
The area has seen a surge in property investors from various demographics, thanks not only to idyllic shoreline, but also to commercial development, a convenient location and plain old tranquility.

The North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal has become a sought after spot for those on the hunt for property, from millennials seeking new investments to retirees who’d like to spend their final decades enjoying a view of the ocean. The area is also proving popular with prospective homeowners who are new to the property market, property investors hoping to expand their portfolio, and foreigners.
The North Coast’s appeal is due to a variety of factors, the most obvious of which is the glorious shoreline. It’s various towns teem with vacationers, all of them eager to soak up some KZN sunlight and enjoy a refreshing dip in the Indian Ocean.
That being said, the area has also won over investors, specifically those from overseas, thanks to its commercial value. Carol Reynolds, the area principal for Pam Golding Properties’ Durban Coastal franchise, explains how “internationally renowned developments like the Oceans in Umhlanga have put this region on the international stage, and so for the first time in years, we are seeing international buyers looking to invest in KZN.”
Writing for Business Report, Dhivana Rajgopaul also states that “the climate, the relocation of the airport which has made the commute to Johannesburg even simpler, and the more affordable property prices have contributed to KZN emerging as the new property capital of SA.”
On the subject of property prices, Reynolds does note a steady annual increase that contrasts with the fluctuating trends recorded in other regions. She says, “KZN is gaining momentum and hence property is becoming more and more desirable in this region,” said Reynolds.
