An eye for art at the North Coast open art exhibition
The exhibition featured established, new and emerging local artists all with their own great stories to tell.
Whether you are an artist, collector or just looking to view great art work, the recent North Coast open art exhibition hosted at Sonatur health and coffee shop at the New Salt Rock Shopping Centre catered for all tastes.
The exhibition featured established, new and emerging local artists all with their own great stories to tell.
Local artist, Sharneen Thompson, who runs a bed and breakfast, showcased her art pieces featuring South Africa’s bush and wild life.
Her dramatic landscapes were enhanced by her skill with charcoal and her love of the African bush was evident throughout her work.

“I am passionate about the bush and natural beauty of South Africa and I paint when I am moved. Most of my pieces have been inspired by my travels,” said Thompson, who has also illustrated books and earned a living designing carpets.
Another artist, Lara de Jager’s own journey has been a two year process which has seen her move from traditional art to creating abstract pieces ranging from canvas to glass.

“My art is fluid and I am passionate about resin as it offers such a broad application as a medium, the possibilities are endless.”
North Coast Art group member Wendy Fundudis’ artistic talent was evident in her specialised floral still-life’s on display.
“I would love to see an art group start in Ballito as this area has so much talent,” said Fundudis.
