Public canvas welcomes anyone to make their mark for charity at Ballito gallery
When it comes to topics such as 'Our Planet', 'No to gender-based violence', and 'Why I love the Dolphin Coast', the youth have a lot of insight to provide.
In as little as five weeks, a local gallery that specialises in being an all-inclusive space for even the youngest of artists, has taken the North Coast art scene by storm.
With mastermind Jane Digby in the driving seat, The Gallery is fast on its way to becoming the hangout of choice among the younger crowd of the North Coast.
When it comes to topics such as ‘Our Planet’, ‘No to gender-based violence’, and ‘Why I love the Dolphin Coast’, the youth have a lot of insight to provide.

“The experiential mezzanine area has been hugely popular with people making their mark on the interactive walls. We are providing an opportunity for the youth of the North Coast and further afield to voice their opinions in a safe, and healthy way,” said Digby, who added that they have even more exciting exhibitions coming up soon with this one set to close on Wednesday, January 27.

Each canvas provided at the mezzanine is set to later be sold off.
Each canvas is cut into 6 pieces and either sold as sets or individually.
Proceeds will go to local charities, such as The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund and Summerhill House.

Digby said the goal was to use art to uplift the community.
“What better way to make a difference than by doing so through creativity?”
During December, Digby said, a call for artists was shared to showcase the talent KwaZulu-Natal has to offer.

Since then, various stunning pieces of art, both on canvas and in sculpture form, have been added to the exhibition.
The intention is to create a visually exciting experience in the hopes of leaving behind a lasting memory and bringing hope in difficult times.
New canvasses will be provided from February 4 to again allow people to paint their hearts out.

According to Digby, new themes have not been confirmed but, they may include the likes of corruption and mental health.
The line-up of local artists contributing with pieces on display include Leigh Bisset, Sarah Richards and Ali Cockburn – including many more.

Be sure to check out The Gallery at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre for yourself, all while enjoying a cup of coffee.
The Gallery is opposite Weylandts and is open from 9am to 5pm daily.
