Free self-defense classes in Umhlali this weekend
The Rise Up Movement and Ringside Boxing Umhlali have joined hands to equip young women in self defense.

The Rise Up Movement in partnership with Ringside Boxing Umhlali plans to reduce gender based violence by hosting free self defense classes this Saturday (March 27).
By equipping women as young as 13 to 18 with the skills needed to protect themselves, the Rise Up Movement led by Josha Daniel believes they will be able to help women better defend themselves in tricky situations.
Daniel said gender-based violence was considered to be one of the most notable and continuous human rights violations within all societies.
“We welcome any school-going females between 13 and 18 to come and train with a female educator should they want to learn self defense. There is no charge involved,” Daniel said.
Owing to Covid-19, participants are capped at 50.
