Show-stopping talent from the next generation at Ballito Junction

Twelve individual singers and a choir made it through to the live performance round, with 7 performing last Saturday and the other 6 set to perform this weekend.

Although many of the contestants at Saturday’s Rising Talent Fest were born in the 2010s, they displayed talent beyond their years.

Madison-Lee de Vries (12) sang her heart out to ‘Riptide’ by Vance Joy.

If you witnessed the performances at Ballito Junction’s inaugural talent fest on Saturday you could be forgiven for thinking that the contestants were on their own world tours.

Matt, Sienna and Nicole Reece, Mauro Martini, Keaton Brummer, Monique Records, Holly Reece, Binx Martini and Ellie Reece came out to support talent fest contestant, Holly Reece (in white).

This was the first opportunity for the youngsters to perform live after sending through a clip of themselves singing to get into the finals.

Emily Naidoo (11), Holly Reece (10), Jordan van Wyngaardt (11), Gabriel Coelho (12), Mackenzie Jahnig (12) Madison-Lee de Vries (12) and Caitlin Holmes (16) all sang 2 songs of their choice on Saturday.

The judges had to make a difficult decision, sending only 2 through to the final.

Umhlali Prep student, Gabriel Coelho (12) singing his version of Rihanna’s ‘Love on the Brain’.

Emily Naidoo, a Curro Mount Richmore student and Mackenzie Jahnig, who is homeschooled, were the top picks.

Finalist, Mackenzie Jahnig (12) wowed the crowd with a pared down version of ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ by Swedish House Mafia.

They will be joined by 2 more contestants after the second round of competition this weekend.
