Title: Becoming by Michelle Obama
Publisher: Penguin RandomHouse
A heartfelt and inspiring memoir by the former First Lady of the United States.
Michelle Obama – the first African-American to serve in that role – is a woman of indomitable spirit and her story is one of overcoming and discovering herself.
She holds her own next to Barak, quite a feat for anyone, never mind a first lady.
First ladies are supposed to gracefully complement their husbands without making any demands on the American people.

Michelle, however, was not one to sit in her husband’s shade.
Her memoir is told deftly and weaves an engrossing story from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to figuring out how to raise to children in the White House.
She came from a humble working class family that lived on the top floor of her aunt and uncle’s home but went on to graduate from Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
An unusual feat for someone from her neighbourhood.
With refreshing openness and lively wit she chronicles an unusual life and rise to fame. A fascinating and uplifting read.
