Coming to the Playhouse in Durban next month is Joburg Ballet’s enchanting new production of The Nutcracker, which will include dancers from the Celia Davis School of Ballet in Umhlali.

The Nutcracker is a popular Christmas ballet classic which promises to transport the audience into a Christmas fairy tale where toys come to life, mice wage war, snowflakes delight, sweets dance and Clara meets her Nutcracker Prince.

Booked for December 18 and 19, the production will be made all the more special with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score performed by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lykele Temmingh.

A classical ballet in 2 acts, The Nutcracker was originally choreographed by Marius Petipa.
