Whether you find live concerts or joining a local community organisation more to your fancy is completely up to you, but rest assured that with The North Coast Courier’s What’s Up On the North Coast events diary your chances of missing an event are pretty much zero.
22 – 31 December – The 16th annual Litchi picking festival. Situated just passed Flag Farm Animal Farm on Sheffield Beach Road, on the right. Daily times are from 9am – 3pm, except on 24 December 9am-12pm, closed 25 December, bookings only 26 December (email litchifestival@gmail.com). Entrance fee is R160 (cash only) per person, this includes eating as many as you can while picking and taking home 1.6 kg litchis. R50 for toddlers (3 years and under) with no bucket to take home. Extra buckets at R120 each. Some food and drinks on sale. No bags or cooler boxes are allowed to be brought in. Contact 064 763 6457.
22 – 31 December – The Durban Botanic Gardens Trail of Lights is brighter than ever. With world class lighting displays, an illuminated trail winds its way through Africa’s oldest surviving botanic garden, providing a magical experience. Ticket R50 – R70 at trailoflights.co.za
22 – 2 January – The Candy Cane Lane holiday light drive through at the Pavilion shopping centre rooftop. An immersive, drive-through lighting experience that’s been designed to transport visitors into a festive wonderland of lights, festive characters and selfie opportunities, all in the comfort of your own vehicle. Candy Cane Lane features just under a kilometre of lights and activations, as well as KZN’s tallest and brightest Christmas tree, standing at almost 10m tall. From 6.30pm to 9.30pm each night. Closed on Christmas Day. Tickets are R199 per vehicle and are available at howler.co.za/candycane2021.
22 – 23 December – Noelin on piano at The Market from 10am to 12.30pm and Qadasi & Maqhinga perform at The Market from 12.30-3.30pm, followed by Winston Smile from 6-9pm.
24 December – Black Coffee and DJ Merlon live at Sugar Rush. Gates open at 12pm. Tickets R300 – R800 at webtickets.co.za.
– Jazz band, Quiet Storm performs at The Market from 12.30-3.30pm and Afritude at Eat Street from 12.30-3.30pm, followed by cover band Hale Mary, from 6.30-9.30pm and James Freedom at The Market from 6-9pm.
26 December – Tara Blake performs at The Market from 10.30am to 12.30pm, followed by Dave Starke from 12.30-3.30pm and Eston Lloyd from 6-9pm. Enjoy an evening of jazz at Eat Street with 5th Season Jazz from 6.30-9.30pm.
28 December – Afrikaans show with Irene-Louise van Wyk and Jacques du Plessis at Karibu. Phone 0866 335 1010 for tickets.
28-31 December – All KwaDukuza libraries will be closed.
