Spoil dad this Father’s Day with these 5 top North Coast ideas

If you are looking for something special to do to make it a memorable day for him, look no further than these five standout options.

Sunday is Father’s Day, a time to celebrate the dads in our lives.

But if you’re not sure what to do and time is running out to plan something, we may just have you covered…

1. If your dad absolutely loves deep sea fishing but you don’t have a boat… well, the North Coast is home to many fishing charters licensed to take you out on a thrill expedition to the deep blue.

Local recommendations include Hooking It and Dirty Harry.

It may be a great idea to get a few friends and their dads in on it, with pricing options varying depending on the packages.

Get in touch with either charter for more information: Hooking It – 082 467 5629 | Dirty Harry – 082 579 3879.

2. In 60 minutes you can show your dad views of the North Coast he’s never seen before by taking to the sky in a microlight for a bird’s eye view.

Popular packages include a 60-minute flight, which in most cases covers the area from Ballito through to the Tugela River mouth. Be sure to pack a camera as you are likely to spot dolphins, manta rays, turtles and so much more on a perfect day.

Bookings and rates at ballitomicrolight.co.za.

3. Take dad for a combo adventure of wall climbing, archery, abseiling and a paintball challenge at Rain Farm Game and Lodge, where a combo pass for all the activities costs R300 and an additional R220 per person.

End off the day with a scenic sunset game drive, for R395 per person, that includes beverages and snacks. Phone 032 815 1050.

4. If you and dad enjoy being wild men together, the best way to do this would be by sneaking around a forest kitted out in camouflage and armed with paintball or laser guns. Go as a team by inviting a few friends along.

Contact Ballito Ski Park at 083 233 5165 | 082 337 6044.

5. Few dads could resist a beer expedition.

The Ballito Brewing Company offers tours to explore the art of producing craft beer and, of course, do a lot of tasting. You also get to take home three beers.

Tours are R200 per person. Phone 032 032 0200.

If gin is more to your taste, book a three-hour Gin Distillation Masterclass at The Capital Zimbali where you will produce your own personalised 500ml bottle of Inverroche gin to take home and enjoy. Contact: 032 538 5000.
