Noluthando needs your support at Basadi in Music Awards
When Noluthando Ngema learned about the opportunity to submit a demo for consideration at the BIMA Awards, she seized the opportunity.
It was a truly humbling moment for a talented 27-year-old singer from Ndwedwe when she received a nomination in the annual Basadi in Music Awards (BIMA), which celebrates women in music.
Noluthando Ngema has been recognised in the category of “New Emerging Artist of the Year.”
The winners of the awards will be announced on Saturday, August 12.
Ngema is an enthusiastic soul singer whose first single “Black Girls Deserve Good Love Too” is to be released next week.
Ngema said music had played a vital role in her life, particularly during her time as a student studying physiotherapy at the University of Cape Town.
“I was facing numerous challenges at that time, including depression. I found solace sitting in front of a keyboard and pouring out all my worries through song. Music truly played a crucial role in my recovery,” she said.
When she learned about the opportunity to submit a demo for consideration at the BIMA Awards, she seized the opportunity.
“I was among the 370 artists who submitted demos for this category. To be chosen as one of the nominees is truly encouraging and motivates me to keep striving for excellence. If I were to win,
I would have the privilege of being mentored by Msaki, a South African composer, singer, and songwriter and receive a
R100 000 bursary to pursue music studies in Cape Town, which would be an incredible opportunity.”
