Celebrate with the Irish this St Patrick’s Day

The local chapter of the Irish South Africa Association is calling on residents to join in on the fun.

The Irish South Africa Association (ISAA) is calling on North Coast residents to join in on some St Patrick’s Day fun later this month.

Celebrations will be hosted by the KwaZulu-Natal chapter of the association at Westville Country Club on March 15.

Dave “Leprechaun” Monks will perform with Marion Loudon, while the Irish dancers from the Celtic Heartbeat Academy of Irish Dance KZN will show off their fancy footwork. Donal McCracken will keep things moving while telling tall tales of Irish heroes and eccentrics in South Africa and there will even be a special message from the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins through the Irish Embassy in South Africa. If that does not have you sold, there is also a three-course buffet lunch to enjoy.

Dave “Leprechaun” Monks and Marion Loudon top the bill with a great selection of toe-tapping and singalong Irish favourites.

“We plan to extend the association’s events to venues on the North Coast this year as we know there is a lot of interest,” said ISAA North Coast co-ordinator, Veronica O’Dwyer, a Ballito resident who is originally from Cork in Ireland.

“Although the St Patrick’s Day lunch will be at Westville Country Club, we suggest North Coast guests get the most out of it by grouping together and treating themselves to a taxi service – like going to rugby! Everyone is welcome at the event, whether you’re Irish or just enjoy celebrating with the Irish!”

The doors open at midday. Secure your space by booking and prepaying R440 per person.
