VW Club treasure hunt sends teams across the North Coast

Open to all vehicle brands, the treasure hunt attracted motoring enthusiasts, families and groups of friends from across the region.

Clues, challenges and a R10 000 grand prize drew 14 teams to a treasure hunt across the North Coast on Saturday.

Organised by VW Club South Africa, the event started at Kuta-Kola in Ballito and challenged participants to follow a series of clues leading them to various locations before reaching the final destination in Umhlanga.

Teams of at least two people were tasked with solving riddles, completing challenges and searching for clues while travelling between checkpoints.

Participants competed for several prizes sponsored by Volkswagen South Africa, including a weekend getaway for two valued at R10 000. The prize included the use of a Volkswagen vehicle, two nights’ accommodation and spending money. Additional prizes included Volkswagen merchandise vouchers worth R5 000 and R2 500.

The event concluded with a park-off and social gathering where teams shared stories from the day’s adventure and organisers announced the winners.

The treasure hunt was designed to encourage teamwork, observation and creative thinking, with competitors relying on clues, maps, online searches and local knowledge to complete the route.

The event formed part of a weekend of motoring activities linked to the KZN Gas Autoshow and offered an alternative attraction for car enthusiasts.
