WATCH: No more masks indoors or restrictions on gatherings – residents have their say

The announcement received mixed emotions.

IT’S the end of an era for the Covid-19 mask.

On Wednesday, health minister Joe Phaala published a notice in the Government Gazette stating that the wearing of masks was no longer necessary as there are now fewer hospitalisations and reported cases of Covid-19.

The announcement received mixed emotions – some say ‘good riddance – finally, the mask is no more’, and others say they will still wear a mask for their own reasons.

Northglen News journalist, Candyce Krishna, asked a few holidaymakers and locals, at the Whalebone Pier in uMhlanga this morning, what their thoughts were on ‘ditching the mask’.
