Scouts put leadership to test
Local girls take on physically and mentally demanding scouts' course.
THREE of the senior scouts from the 57th Trafalgar Sea Scouts attended the 110th Patrol Leaders Training Unit (PLTU) at Lexden, Pietermaritzburg recently.
Lexden PLTU is a physically and mentally demanding course spanning a period of 10 days.
All three patrol leaders from the Virginia Circle based Scout troop passed the course with Emma Gultig excelling by winning the Lexden Challenge, which is a test of scouting and leadership skills the participants have to do near the beginning of the course.
Lexden includes camping, cooking, hiking, scouting skills and most importantly, teamwork for all the participants.
The 57th Scout troop has close on 30 scouts which requires skilled and trained leaders to share their knowledge in training the younger scouts.
