TEN commuters were injured in a taxi accident on the M4 in the vicinity of Virginia this afternoon. Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen said traffic was severely affected as one of the lanes had to be closed.
“It’s alleged the driver of the taxi swerved to avoid a steel cage which had fallen off a truck, occupying the right hand lane, causing him to collide with a light motor vehicle.
“The injured commuters were treated and stabilized on scene by Crisis Medical paramedics before being taken by ambulance to various nearby hospitals for further care. Traffic was severely affected as the right lane had to be closed to traffic while emergency services worked to clear the scene,” he said.
Last week a car was forced off the road and into the bushes along the M4 leaving three people injured.
