Car fire doused by quick-thinking firefighters

A driver escaped injury after a car burst into flames on a busy freeway.

A DRIVER miraculously escaped injury after his vehicle burst into flames on the N2 north near the KwaMashu off-ramp this morning. The fire, which caused a traffic backlog, was doused by firefighters more than 40 minutes ago.

“Thanks to the swift action from eThekwini Fire and Rescue Services, the fire was quickly extinguished. Traffic was also severely affected, as passing motorists slowed down to view the action,” said Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen.

In July this year, a father and son were lucky to escape injury after their car burst into flames on the M41.
