Car stolen from Durban North showroom floor

The criminal sped off in a red 2010 VW Golf GTI.

A SMOOTH talking criminal made off with a top of the range car, worth R250 000 rand, from a auto dealership on North Coast (Chris Hani) Road. The incident occurred at about 9.30am at the Durban North Auto Sales dealership.

The man, who went under the name of Justin and is around 30-year-old, sped off in a red 2010 VW Golf GTI about two hours ago. According to Michael McManus, owner of the shop, the man, had come into the shop posing as a customer.

“He came in asking about the car and asked one of the salesmen to start the car up so he could hear the engine. He then said his father, who I believe was an accomplice, had questions about the car and while the salesman was on the phone, the man managed to speed off with the vehicle,” McManus said.

What’s more it is believed that the CCTV cameras at the dealership weren’t working at the time of the robbery.

Anyone who has seen the car can call Billy on 074 103 6494.
