Yet another win for Durban North trail runner at the Umhlanga Jockey Trail Run.
DURBAN North’s trail running extraordinaire, Eric Ngubane, powered to a win in the 18km Umhlanga Jockey Trail run recently finishing in a time of one hour eleven minutes. The first lady home in the 18km distance was Amy Burger in one hour and 34 minutes. This was the 16th running of the popular trail run event which drew over 500 competitors.
Riverside Trail who have been the official organisers of all these events in partnership with Umhlanga Tourism celebrated its 5th birthday shortly before the event.
“More than 75 group members participated in a birthday run through Virginia bush. After the jog all finishers were treated to a cuppa chino and a health muffin branded for the occasion,” said chairman of the group, Buzz Bolton.
He also expressed his appreciation to all those who have supported and contributed to the exponential growth.
“To round off a very successful year our group hosted its fifth Buzz Bolton Spiderman Award ceremony at froggie pond. Close to 80 members witnessed Brendan Ferrar receiving the award for the generous support he has offered over the past five years,” he said.
