Sunningdale domestic worker robbers arrested

The men are believed to have been terrorizing domestic workers from the Sunningdale and surrounding Durban North areas.

TWO men, believed to be behind several robberies of domestic workers in the Sunningdale and surrounding Durban North areas have been arrested. The men had tried to rob a plumber on Village Way earlier today. According to Tyron Powell of Marshall Security, one of the men was armed with a screwdriver which was wrapped in a brown bag.

“The duo had accosted a plumber who was eating his lunch on Village Way – they tried to rob him. One of the suspects put the screwdriver at the plumber’s chest but he was able to fight them off and stop them from taking anything. I then responded to the scene and found the suspects had entered the road through a hole in the fence at the end of Village Way leading to the N2.

“Through a coordinated effort the suspects were eventually arrested on Old North Coast Road. When I brought them back to the scene, they were positively identified. A domestic worker on her way home positively identified one of the suspects in which she was robbed. She said the suspect had been targeting and robbing domestic workers in the Somerset Park and La Lucia areas,” he said.

The suspects have been handed over to the SAPS who are trying to link the men to other crimes in the area.
