Two killed in N2 hit-and-run

The duo were allegedly crossing the road when the accident occurred.

TWO people were killed after being struck on the N2 (going south) just past Umgeni Road in Springfield Park on Sunday night. According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the accident occurred just after 7pm.

“We received a call from a motorist saying that two people were lying on the roadway. One of those killed, succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead on arrival by paramedics. Another man was found lying in the median in critical condition.

“Paramedics from two private ambulance services attempted to resuscitate the critically injured man however due to the extent of his injuries he also died on scene,” RUSA said.

According to the Facebook post, it is alleged that the two were attempting to cross the freeway when they were knocked by an unknown driver. The driver fled the scene.
