Police seek answers to La Lucia death

The victim died of his wounds after lapsing into a coma.

DURBAN North SAPS are investigating the death of man, believed to be in his 40s, who was stabbed at the La Lucia taxi rank. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station, the victim, after being stabbed attempted to run away from the scene and tripped on steps near the rank before hitting his head and lapsing into a coma.

“He suffered fatal head injuries in the fall and later died at Addington Hospital. We have opened an inquest docket and will be investigating the circumstances that led to his death. What we know is that he is a well-known vagrant who lives in the bushes near the M41 split,” he said.

Deokaran added the victim’s wife was distraught and had come forward to report the case.
