One killed in M4 crash

The north bound carriageway had to be closed while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.

ONE person has been killed and two others were injured after an accident on the M4 (north bound) near the Virginia off-ramp on Saturday morning. According to Garrith Jamieson, spokesman for Rescue Care Paramedics, the driver in one of the vehicles, who was in 20s, was declared dead at the scene just before 2am.

“When we arrived on scene, we noticed two vehicles had been involved in a collision. On assessment we found one person, believed to be the driver of the Toyota, had sustained fatal injuries. There was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene.

“Two other occupants were treated on scene by paramedics before being transported to various Durban Hospitals. The north bound carriageway had to be closed while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene,” he said.

Jamieson added the events leading up to the collision is unknown.
