Woman injured as truck tyre smashes into car windscreen

The driver sustained minor injuries in the collision.

A FEMALE driver sustained minor injuries on Monday afternoon when a truck tyre rolled down the N2 and smashed into her car windscreen. According to Shawn Herbst, Netcare 911 spokesman, the incident occurred at 12.30pm.

“We responded to reports of a collision on the N2 southbound just past the N2/M41 uMhlanga interchange. Reports from the scene indicate that a tyre had fallen off a truck and rolled down the N2 before crashing into a light motor vehicle. The driver sustained minor injuries in the collision. She was assessed on scene and transported to hospital,” he said.

The incident followed a fatal accident hours before on the M41 where a pedestrian was killed.

“The accident occurred on the M41 westbound at the Mount Edgecombe off-ramp. Reports from the scene indicate that an adult female was struck by a vehicle. The patient was declared deceased on scene,” he said.
