Alleged drug dealer arrested on Riverside Road

The suspect who was arrested was out on bail for a drug related offence, confirmed police.

DURBAN North police arrested an alleged drug dealer on Riverside Road on Friday night just before 11pm. The suspect was found in possession of 22 grams of cocaine with a street value of approximately R4 000.

Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS said the station’s crime prevention unit spotted the suspect driving on Riverside Road very slowly.

“Our officers pulled over the vehicle and found the suspect had just been released on bail for a drug related crime. The suspect also had ties to an alleged drug dealer known to the police. Officers found 22 grams of cocaine on the suspect worth an estimated R4 000,” Deokaran explained.

The suspect is due to appear in court this week but detectives are expected to oppose bail, confirmed Deokaran.
