Get your will drawn up for free

During National Wills Week, attorneys participating in the initiative will display posters with their contact details.

WITH National Wills Week taking place from 16-20 September this year, the importance of having a legally binding will couldn’t be more relevant.  Attorney firms throughout the country will be participating in the annual project that sees participating lawyers drawing up wills for free.

According to South Africa’s Master of the High Court, more than 70 per cent of working South Africans do not have wills.

The Law Society of South Africa added that if someone dies without a will, or if the will is found to be invalid, their estate will be administered in terms of the Intestate Succession Act 81 of 1987, which they say can be a lengthy and emotional experience.

During National Wills Week attorneys participating in the initiative will display posters with their contact details so that members of the public can make appointments with attorneys in their area.

The contact details and addresses of all participating attorneys can be accessed on the LSSA website at www.LSSA.org.za or by contacting the relevant provincial law society.
