After an extensive search, the suspect was spotted and apprehended.

A SUSPECT involved in an attempted burglary in the uMhlanga area on Friday was arrested after reports of an attempted break-in surfaced on a WhatsApp crime-alert group.

The suspect, however, had fled the property before Marshall Security arrived.

“Armed with a description of the suspect, our officers remained vigilant and conducted an extensive search. Their relentless efforts paid off when they spotted and successfully apprehended the suspect on Ridge Road. The homeowner positively identified the suspect,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

Charges of malicious damage to property and trespassing will be investigated by Durban North SAPS who arrived on scene after the suspect was found.

“We would like to extend our appreciation to the community for their support and cooperation as it emphasises the power of collective action in maintaining a safe and secure environment,” said Powell.
