Taxi driver shot dead on Chris Hani Road

The motive for the shooting is unknown says Marshall Security's Tyron Powell.

A MAN, believed to be a taxi driver, was shot and killed on Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road) on Friday evening.

The driver was shot in the head by unknown suspects who also stole the taxi.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson, Tyron Powell, the incident occurred at about 19:30.

“Reports from scene indicate that a taxi driver was shot dead and flung out of a Toyota Quantum by unknown amount of suspects. The suspects then fled the scene with the vehicle. The vehicle was then recovered and found abandoned a short while later on North Coast Road close to the N2 Highway by our armed response officer,” he said.

Powell said while the motive for the shooting is unknown, a case of murder has been opened at the Greenwood Park police station.
