Man arrested in Durban North with suspected stolen property

Durban North SAPS is investigating the matter further with the assistance of Marshall Security.

A WANTED suspect was arrested in Durban North on Saturday after being spotted by a vigilant community member.

The man was looking into properties on Balmoral Drive which was what prompted the informant to report this suspicious behaviour on a WhatsApp Crime Alert group.

A private security company escorted the man out of the area and shared a picture of him, unaware that he was wanted by the SAPS.

“Our emergency dispatch centre immediately noticed that the picture shared was of a suspect wanted for numerous house breakings and house robberies in the Durban North area as per CCTV footage supplied to the SAPS and Marshall Security Investigations Unit,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

“Our Armed Response Officers, our Special Operations Team and the Durban North SAPS Trio Crimes Unit were immediately informed to be on the lookout for the suspect,” added Powell.

The suspect was seen on Old Mill Way and was immediately apprehended. He was found in possession of suspected stolen items and could not provide a reasonable explanation as to how he had the items in his possession.
