The suspect fled into dense bushes in order to evade arrest.

SECURITY personnel are looking for a suspect involved in the theft of construction materials stolen from an Effingham Heights work site on Wednesday.

The materials were recovered after the suspect fled the scene of the crime on Effingham Road.

According to Swift Private Security spokesperson Sanveer Sooklall, they were alerted to the incident at about 09:00.

“According to a resident, the suspect was observed leaping over the construction-site fence, wrapping the stolen items in plastic to conceal them and then making a quick escape. When the suspect noticed our security vehicles, he immediately fled into dense bushes. Despite the efforts of multiple officers in pursuit, the suspect managed to evade arrest,” he said.
