“Our officers observed the suspect jumping into a property on Lonsdale Drive at about 03:00. Despite a thorough search of the property the suspect fled by fence hopping as a wider search area was initiated. At approximately 04:58, a resident on Lothian Road reported a suspect on their property, who matched the same description as the suspect from earlier but fled when he was disturbed.
“Moments later, while patrolling The Drive, members of our Special Operations Team observed the suspect jumping out of another property and was immediately apprehended. A search of the suspect revealed two cellphones in his possession,” Powell said.
He added the suspect had entered a domestic worker’s room and stole the two cellphones while the occupants were still asleep.
Powell said the company’s community CCTV project played a key role in effecting the arrest.
