Veteran SPCA staffer retires
After 43 years of service at the Johannesburg SPCA, Patson Mulaudzi has retired.
SPCA spokesperon Jolene Beyleveld said, “His last day was on 28 June and tears streamed down fellow colleagues’ faces as they said goodbye.”
Mulaudzi started working at the SPCA in 1970, when he was just a young man of 19 years. He was employed as a garden cleaner and then a kennel hand, where he got to spend time with the animals in the kennels and ensure they were fit, bathed and healthy.
In 1983 he moved into the administrative side of the organisation, where he was responsible for the collection of donations and making deliveries.
“You could always count on Mulaudzi. He was an extremely loyal employee who always greeted everyone with a big friendly smile. The staff will miss him and we wish him all the best in his retirement,” said Byleveld.
Mulaudzi added, “I will miss you all. I will come and visit my colleagues in a short while again, because the company, and the animals it cares for, is my home and family.”
