Park’s fencing disappears
A park in Montgomery Park is turning into a slum village.
Criminals are stealing the remaining parts of the Montgomery Park’s palisade fencing.
According to the Ward 88 councillor Pat Richards, a vehicle knocked down a part of the park’s fencing on Milner Avenue 18 months ago and City Parks has been informed many times and no repairs have been done. “It now appears neglected and unsightly, more will be stolen and sold as scrap metal.”
Montgomery Park resident and Sector Community Policing Forum chairperson Ronald Prentice said two sliding gates were missing from the park and the gaps needed to be closed for security reasons. “The community plans to develop a cycling track and better the use of the place. I suggest hinged instead of sliding gates because it is easy to steal sliding gates.”
Another resident David Grant said he had seen some vagrants living in the park and it had become an escape route for criminals.
City Parks is investigating the matter to find a solution.
