Northcliff High School was the location for an exciting day of action rugby on 30 August.
Cliffview Primary School, Northcliff Primary School and North West Christian Primary School joined the host school to learn more about the sport through fun, fitness and teamwork.
Nedbank's personal loans division donated 66 rugby shirts and shorts, 40 scrum caps, 70 scrum guards as well as medals and trophies to the schools. They also provided educational and promotional material for the youth and parents in attendance to learn more about banking options for youngsters.
In her speech at the handover, marketing manager of Nedbank personal loans, Philippa Guichard, explained the importance of corporate social responsibility and providing needed resources for young
people.
“We will continue to make a positive contribution towards empowering communities we serve and helping the livelihood of young people through sport. We firmly believe that investment in the youth is investment in the future. I encourage all of you to make things happen wherever you are. Let's work together to make a difference,” said Guichard.
Northcliff High School principal Walter Essex-Clark said, “I am very happy to do this joint venture with Nedbank.
“The idea is to encourage an interest in rugby among children who have little exposure to playing the game through team sports and confidence building. We appreciate the keen interest Nedbank is showing in our
children.”
