Rotarians give the aged a brighter Christmas

The Rotary Club of Blackheath (RCB) joined by their German Youth Exchange Student Wiebke Schultz (16) held their annual food collection for the community’s needy elderly at Steve’s Spar in Blackheath recently.

“We thank the local community for their ongoing generosity and support” Lynne Ward, RCB’s public relations officer said.

“A special thank you to Steve’s Spar who have kindly allowed us to collect for our aged for the past 13 years,” she added.

The food will be distributed before Christmas to selected needy residents of Gem Homes, Montgomery Park, Caro House, Northcliff and Jordan House in Westbury.

“I can see that there are many elderly people trying to make ends meet on small pensions, I feel so grateful that I can work with my Rotary Club to give them special treats at Christmas,” Schultz stated.
