EG Kerk Westdene welcomes new pastor

Reverend Danie Klopper is the new pastor of the Evangelies-Gereformeerde Kerk situated on the corner of Toby Street and Thornton Road.

After studying for four years at a church seminary in Pretoria, Klopper gained his first congregation in December last year and moved with his family to take up the position at the Westdene church.

To appoint a new pastor, senior members of the church prayed for the Lord’s insight then came up with a shortlist to be voted on.

“I was chosen to lead this church by the congregation and I accepted the position because the Lord showed me, very specifically, that I need to come here and do His work,” explained Reverend Klopper, on his decision to uproot his family from Pretoria to Johannesburg.

“I enjoy being here and when you are within God’s world you know where you are to be and you are at peace,” he said.

Reverend Klopper went on to explain that, as a pastor, it is his role to find people who are lost and connect them to the Lord. For believers who are already ‘connected’, it is his role to help them grow closer to the Lord in every aspect of their lives.

“I hope to grow the church, which is every pastor’s dream,” he said. “I also hope to help out in the community and proclaim the word of God in Johannesburg. I’ve found that the people of Westdene are very friendly and it has been a pleasant surprise living my entire life in Pretoria and then coming here and seeing how nice the community is. ”

According to the reverend, chapter six, verse 47 of the book of John in the Bible sums up his calling from God to lead the Westdene church, “most assured I say to you, he who believe in me shall have everlasting life.”
