Melpark’s marvelous athlete

MELVILLE - Melpark Primary pupil shines in track and field.

Alexus Mayer, a 10 year old student at Melpark Primary School, has achieved a great feat in school sport.

After participating in field events for the first time, this girl has found great success.

In the school athletics calendar Alexus represented Melpark Primary School and earned 12 medals from various events, including gold medals from interschool and intercluster competitions.

She was chosen to participate in the Gauteng provincial athletics championships in Pretoria on the basis of her performance. She placed third in her age group for long jump.

This brave girl also travelled to Paarl in the Western Cape to take part in the School Athletic National Championship and she achieved a great honour by winning a bronze medal for Gauteng in the long jump in her division.

This extraordinary achievement has brought pride and honour not only to Melpark Primary School, but to the province of Gauteng.

The Melpark Primary School family of students, teachers and the principal Nalini Padayachee congratulate Alexus on her fantastic performance in athletics this year.

“We want to salute your bravery and determination, and wish you all the best in your future sporting endeavours,” Padayachee said.
