Local weight loss facility supports the needy

NORTHCLIFF- Curves Annual Food Drive feeds sick children.

Curves Food Drive took place between 5 and 16 May at participating Curves Clubs throughout South Africa. Curves invited new and existing members to take part in the Food Drive by bringing in a generous bag of non-perishable food, or R200 cash.

All new members who contributed toward this charity drive joined the club without paying the usual joining fee. The in-club promotion continued until 31 May.

Curves Northcliff donated all the food collected to Marang House on 5 June.

Marang House is situated in Northcliff and caters for children who suffer from chronic implications associated with renal failure, cancer, diabetes, burns, and/or trauma. They take in those unfortunate children, whose parents cannot afford constant medical care, supervision and a suitable environment. Marang House provides for their medical, educational and social needs and improve their likelihood of recovery. The children’s ages range from four to 14.

Curves Northcliff received more help from the generous Northcliff and Fairland community. Staff at Chas Everitt brought in up to 72kg and Radford house brought in over a ton of food. In total 1 843kg of food was collected.

“We would like to thank the generous donors and Curves’ staff for their hard work and dedication,” said Shona Bell, owner of Curves Northcliff.

“Now when the hospital calls me and asks ‘can you take in two more kids into the house?’ I can say YES,” commented Salome Parkies the nurse that takes care of the children at Marang.
