Northcliff High misses out on points
NORTHCLIFF – Northcliff High School participated unofficially in Randpark High's swimming gala on 29 January.
Randpark Ridge High hosted a spectacular swimming gala on 29 January.
Among those who participated were Helpmekaar Hoërskool, Redhill High School, Trinityhouse High School, CURRO Aurora and Northcliff High School.
Northcliff High participated unofficially.
“We are here competing but, unfortunately, it doesn’t count for points because our own gala got cancelled,” said Northcliff ‘s master in charge of swimming, Neil van der Walt.
“Although we are not getting points today, this is an opportunity for our pupils to get exposed, and train hard to earn their colours,” he said.
The swimming gala uses a dolphin system –an electronic timing system – which is efficient in recording the swimmer’s pace.
Although Northcliff was not scored, they will be looking forward to gaining more points in next week’s challenge against their rivals –Trinityhouse High School.
“I just want to create depth in the area of our school and expose the kids, said Van der Walt, adding that he wants Northcliff to be on top again.
The swimming gala is hosted every Thursday.
