PRASA promotes a culture of recycling
DELTA PARK – PRASA believes in creating awareness about recycling and encourages society to incorperate it in their daily lives.
The Paper Recycling Association of South Africa (PRASA) is an organisation that is passionate about raising awareness about how society can recycle in their daily lives.
PRASA was established in 2013 by a subdivision of Paper Manufacturers Association of South Africa.
PRASA operations director Ursula Henneberry has been in the recycling industry for 40 years and is involved in promoting paper recycling in South Africa.
“We recently had an exhibition at the Delta Environmental Centre for the launch of the revamped recycling exhibit, where we had a stall that represented our organisation,” she said. “We have been working with them since 2008 and always assist them with their initiatives as they have the target audience we are trying to reach.”
Henneberry has a vision of anyone who recycles items to see themselves as running a business. PRASA also runs an entrepreneurial course that is open to members of the public who have an interest in recycling over a course of four days. The course that is free of charge accommodates a minimum of 25 people.
PRASA offers a number of useful tips on how to recycle, such as keeping paper dry and clean by not mixing it with other recyclables and household waste, to avoid letting the recycling pile up before you drop it off and to always keep in mind that you are recycling for the future of the planet.
“It is my dream to create a culture of recycling in South Africans, young and old. I want to see people living a sustainable life by adopting paper recycling as part of their lifestyles,” Henneberry said.
