A notorious bank robber was arrested at his Auckland Park home on 29 March in connection with alleged robberies in Gauteng and Mpumalanga.
40-year-old Lucky Vusi Dube has been wanted for bank robberies that date back to 2006. Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) Captain Carol Mulamu said, “A man connected with a bank robbery in Bramley was arrested at the Jabulani Hostel in Soweto. He then gave information leading to Dube’s residence in Auckland Park.”
When the Hawks arrived, Dube was home and did not resist arrest. “There were no firearms found, only 14 live rounds of ammunition,” said Capt Mulamu.
Dube appeared at the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 30 March facing charges relating to the possession of unlicensed live ammunition. “The court case was postponed to 6 April for further investigation. His alleged connection to the cases is also being verified,” concluded Capt Mulamu.
Dube was allegedly linked to bank robberies in Vereeniging, Randburg, Sandton, Mpumalanga and Joburg CBD.
