King David Victory Park recently hosted a morning for parents and pupils to gather and learn the Torah together.
This was part of a global Jewish initiative of unity called Generation Sinai. About 100 Jewish schools in 38 cities around the world also joined in
Campus marketing manager, Nirvana Rogers said that the project was initiated by Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein about five years ago. “The day is celebrated before the Shavuot holiday which marks the actual giving of the Torah,” said Rogers. She added that every year the initiative of Generation Sinai has a theme and this year’s theme was gratitude.
She said it is very important to celebrate with parents on the day. “In the modern world, we find that parents are so busy with their careers and earning to provide basic necessities in their households that they miss out on precious time doing things with their children,” said Rogers. She expressed that the initiative provides parents an opportunity to spend time in their child’s classroom and experience what their children experience daily. “It is a chance for the different generations within a family to unite and share in the learning experience together,” said Rogers.
Rogers concluded that they also had the privilege of hosting four generations of the Cohen family who enjoyed the special time together.
