Three men were shot in Westbury, leaving one fatally wounded and two others in hospital.
According to Sophiatown Corporate Communications officer, Lieutenant Colonel Julia Claassen, the three victims were standing outside Gyllsten Court – a block of flats in Westbury – this week at around 11.30pm, when they were approached by two male suspects who opened fire on them.
“One victim, aged 32, was fatally wounded and declared dead at the scene and the other two victims, aged 29 and 32 respectively, were rushed to a nearby hospital,” said Claassen. She said the victim who passed away was shot twice on his upper body.
One case of murder and two for attempted murder were opened at the Sophiatown Police Station. Classen said no arrests have been made and the cases are still under investigation.
“We appeal to the community to come forward with any information; they can call Sophiatown Police on 011 670 6300 or the crime stop number on 086 001 0111” added Claassen.
