A victim dodged what could have been very serious injuries after an altercation took place at the Engen Garage on 4th Avenue and 8th Street in Linden.
According to Linden Police Captain Alex Vermaak, three men ganged up and attacked another man between 6pm and 6.30pm on 8 August. “The victim avoided being stabbed when he grabbed the knife and his hand was cut,” said Captain Vermaak. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and treated.
The victim’s friend fired a warning shot into the air and the three suspects attempted to flee. “One of the suspects managed to get away while the other two suspects were apprehended by some community members,” said Vermaak.
The Linden Police made the arrest and established that the firearm that was fired was licenced. A case of assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm was opened, eye witnesses were questioned and the case is still under investigation.
