Just Love spreads the love
NEWCLARE– Miss Earth finalist is dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues and helping charities through her organisation.
Jeanine Keet has a passion for helping the community, which led her to form a non-profit organisation called, Just Love, with four of her friends, a year ago. The name of the organisation was inspired by a group of young people with a desire to express themselves solely through the act of love.
Keet said she has been involved in helping others and communities work, from a young age. Her passion also led her to enter the Miss Earth programme, where each finalist works closely on this year’s theme: Waste Stops with Me.
Just Love is a movement which aims to change the lifestyles of those who are economically disadvantaged. Keet said their aspirations are aimed towards regular people, struggling charity foundations, less-fortunate schools through empowerment schemes, uplifting sessions, charity donations and general funding.
“We encourage the youth to take an interest in giving back to their fellow brothers and sisters in need. This is accomplished not only because we are youthful in our own right but because we take an interest in giving back to fellow brothers and sisters in need,” explained Keet.
She has worked with a number of charities since her organisation was established a year ago. They’ve offered their help at a soup kitchen at Radio Cottage, donated items to Usindiso.
They have, to date, donated 1 000 loaves of bread to the Riverlea Community Outreach, in collaboration with Blessed to be a Blessing.
On 20 August the organisation hosted a clean-up in Westbury, which was aimed at bringing the community together to clean up the environment.
