Sophiatown police search for suspects who fled the scene of a shootout.
On 17 November two victims were shot at, at Hazel Flats in Westbury. The victims were seated near the corner of the flats when an unknown male suspect approached.
Lieutenant Colonel Julia Claassen said the suspect allegedly drew his firearm and opened fire on the victims.
“One of the victims sustained a bullet wound to the upper body and the second victim sustained a wound in his left thigh while running from the suspect through the corridors of the flats,” she said.
The suspects allegedly fled the scene in a white VW Polo, a blue Toyota Corolla and a gold Mazda 323.
Claassen concluded that no suspects were arrested yet and that the Sophiatown police appeal to the community to assist with any information regarding this incident.
