Jozi Youth dancers have come back from South Korea with medals and a fresh new take on the art form they love so much.
Shaylin Borejszo, Chiara Lloyd, Hannah Dludla, Naveen Jacobs, and Miguel Franco Green each came back home with either medals or director’s choice awards. Jayd Swart, founder of Jozi Youth said that the young dancers far exceeded any goal they had set for themselves.
Swart added that while she was in South Korea she got to choreograph and teach a class filled with some of the best Korean dancers.

While there, dancers participated in workshops and dance competitions. “Leading up to the Korean experience, the dancers were very nervous but when they got there they just set out to do their best.”
Swart explained how she prides herself in ensuring that her dancers are well equipped to handle any new challenge they might encounter. She said that Korean dancers are some of the most disciplined dancers out there and that her dancers had also displayed the same level of discipline. “This is why it was easy for them to achieve those accolades because they realised that they were just as great as the dancers they thought they could not match up to.”
Next year they will go to New York City and South Korea again for competitions. They also hope to go to Russia, not only expand their knowledge of dance but to impart to other dancers what they have learned.
