Cyclists are warned not to ride alone on Rustenburg Road in Melville.
Spokesperson for Brixton Police Station, Jeanette Backoff, said there were a few cases reported where cyclists were attacked and their bicycles were stolen.
Backhoff added that all the incidences that were reported were said to have happened in the early hours of the morning and the victims were allegedly threatened with knives or at gunpoint.
“The suspects are four to six males and in most cases the suspects jumped out of the bushes,” she said.
Cyclists are requested to be more vigilant and to cycle in groups.
