Music fills fan’s hearts at Huawei Joburg Day

EMMARENTIA – Huawei Joburg Day brings music lovers to Emmarentia Dam as they dance the day away to their favourite artists.

Lovers of local music gathered at Emmarentia Dam for the much-anticipated Huawei Joburg Day which left audiences wanting more.

The hotly-awaited event on 2 April had revellers from all over Joburg ready to dance to their favourite artists as they performed live.

The performers for the day included Goldfish, Freshly Ground, Gangs of Ballet, Mafikizolo, The Soil, Locnville, Black Motion and Jeremy Loops. All of the artists brought their different genres to the stage and helped bring the dam to life through their unique performances.

When asked what makes Joburg great, Locnville said that there are various aspects to this city that add to its greatness.

“There is loads of energy here, we were raised in Cape Town and were used to a different vibe, there is fast pace here and people are focused, it is easier to get along with people in Joburg as everyone is on a mission to succeed.”

Meggan Volkwyn, one of the guests of the event, said her favourite act was Goldfish though she was left wanting more from the day.

“Compared to previous years, like 2015, this year’s one fell short for me.”

Goldfish performed several of their hits and had the crowd entertained with their great medley of musical anthems.

Their latest single Deep of the night garnered a great response from their fans.

Visitors brought picnic baskets, garden umbrellas and the best pair of dancing shoes they owned.

Fellow guest, Katlego Ntshweng said he had loads of fun and all the elements put together formed a relaxed environment.

“It was a great day to be with friends and the performers had music for everyone.”
